Sambrani Kodi

Sambrani Kodi

Located amongst the backwaters of Ashtamudi is the peaceful and gorgeous island of Sambrani Kodi. If cruising through lagoons and taking in the lush mangroves has been your dream, look no further since this is the perfect spot for you. The name of the island is derived from the Chinese trading ships that anchored here in ancient times and were locally called ‘Chambrani’. These came to be known as Sambrani Kodi later and now the island is one of the most famous regions amongst tourists in Kollam.

You can opt for a 30-minute cruise that is available here and pamper yourself and your loved ones with delicious dishes from the local cuisine. You can also visit the fishermen’s village to get an insight into their lives and daily routines. Other activities include fishing, exploring tiny fishing islands, collecting clams, oyster picking and taking soothing walks along the shallow lakes and nine different types of mangroves.
