Established in 1938 and named after the Peppara Dam, which is located a mere 50 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, the sanctuary offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. 

Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary is a nature lover's dream come true, nestled within the majestic hills of Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. Discover the wild and be mesmerized by endemic species such as the Sambar, Nilgiri Langur, Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Tahr, Sloth bear, Asian elephant, Lion-tailed macaque, leopard, barking deer and wild boar. 

The sanctuary is also home to the rare bird species like the white-bellied treepie, Malabar Grey hornbill and small sunbird also call the sanctuary home.
