Short stay in Bengaluru here are four places to visit nearby
Checking out all the beautiful parts of a city isn't possible when your trip is a short one. At times, the only travelling you can do is between your hotel and the airport. Also, flight delays and rescheduling, bad weather, and other factors might sometimes leave you stranded at the airport or inside your Bengaluru hotel near the airport. What is one to do in such situations?
Take a city like Bengaluru. If you have to kill time during your stay near the airport, you should definitely check out some of the attractions close by. In addition to the resorts and hotels in Bengaluru, some excellent tourist spots are located near the airport.
This article talks about the following tourist spots near the airport:
Embassy International Riding School
Bengaluru is an amazing city, so amazing that near to the airport is situated one of the most popular weekend getaway destinations. Nandi Hills, located at a distance of 39 km from the Bengaluru International Airport, is a tourist spot where one can trek, cycle, and explore the beautiful hills. You can reach this location in about an hour. There's a charming, pleasant garden which you can visit, along with other attractions like the Tipu Sultan's Fort and Tipu's Drop. If you're short of time, you can still pay a quick visit to these hills, as the area is excellent just to drop by, stretch your legs and soak in the serenity.
A unique entry in this list is the Embassy International Riding School which acts as a quick ranch getaway from the airport. The place is essentially for learning how to ride a horse, but, you can also relax and check out the horses from a distance. You can opt for a luxury pitched tent that comes with an assortment of amenities. If you're not a camping person, you could opt for their suite options as well.
The Devanahalli Fort is situated near to the airport, standing as a tall, quiet, and proud symbol of history amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. Its connection to history is deep, as it is believed to be the birthplace of Tipu Sultan. One can also take a look at the sections where rulers like Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali used to live. Small entrances decorated with cut plasterwork lead to a large area which has been neatly demarcated for the temples inside the fort, like the Venu Gopalaswamy Temple.
In the heart of Bengaluru’s business district is Cubbon Park, a well-maintained 120-hectare garden where Bengaluru’s residents converge to steal a moment from the rat race that rages outside. The gardens encompass the red-painted Gothic-style State Central Library. The park is also a hub to various concerts, fun runs, yoga and even a small farmers market. Other wonderful colonial-era architecture around the park includes the colossal neo-Dravidian-style Vidhana Soudha, built in 1954, which serves as the legislative chambers of the state government, and neo-classical Attara Kacheri, built in 1864 and housing the High Court.
Cauvery Arts & Crafts Emporium
Government-run store famous for its expansive collection of quality sandalwood and rosewood products as well as handmade weavings, silks and bidriware (metallic handicrafts), is a happy place to buy gift items or decoratives for your home sweet home.
If you're near the airport and want to escape from the hot sun and cool off with some exciting water activities, the Lumbini Gardens would be an ideal place to visit. This amusement park is built around the Nagavara Lake and has toy trains, waterslides, wave pools, boat rides, and amusement rides that make for a fun time during your visit. If you want just to sit and enjoy the view, you may do so at the lakefront seating. You can also take a refreshing walk around the park. If all the mentioned activities make you hungry, you can also check out the Golden Pearl, which is a floating restaurant in the area.
The Leela Palace Bengaluru is one of the premium 5 star hotels in Bengaluru. Check with the front desk for the best way to travel to the places mentioned above.
