Leela Hotels perform ‘Leela dharma’ during Covid-19 crisis and serve the community

Care packages, cooked meals, accommodation for medical staff and tea service for the police overseeing the lockdown — all are a part of the hotel chain’s initiative to fight Covid-19.

The Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts, who are usually associated with the ultra high end of luxury hospitality, are doing their bit through their properties across India to support communities so that they can cope with the pandemic and the lockdown.
A spokesperson from the group told ET Hospitality, “The Leela brand is privileged to lend a helping hand to those adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Our hotels have collaborated with local authorities to provide ‘care packages’ consisting of daily need food provisions and personal hygiene products for more than 200 underprivileged families.”

We are grateful to our team members, who’ve participated in this initiative and extend our gratitude to the frontline police officials for helping us distribute the packages. Our initiative reinstates our commitment to perform ‘Leela dharma’ and work for the welfare and betterment of our society, the spokesperson added.
Individually, the Leela Palace Chennai is distributing close to 50 packed meal boxes for lunch every day to the department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and 50 packed meal boxes for dinner to the medical workers at the Kilpauk Medical College. They have also received an appreciation letter from the college for this support.
The Leela Palace New Delhi in alliance with local authorities is providing ‘care packages’ to needy families. The package consists of daily food provisions and personal hygiene products. They are doing this for 200 families every week.
The Leela Palace Bengaluru is hosting a high tea for the police personnel deployed in front of the hotel at 4pm every day. They are also offering packed meal boxes to 300 nursing staff of Manipal Hospital. The hotel also regularly distributes masks and packed meal boxes to underprivileged families and delivers daily groceries to senior citizens.
The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel Delhi is providing safe accommodation and related services for more than 70 doctors and paramedic staff from Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Shahdara. The hotel has formed a team of essential staff members, who follow strict protocol and take all safety precautions while fulfilling guest services.
The Leela Ambience Gurugram, meanwhile, is serving tea and coffee twice daily to the entire police force guarding the Delhi-Gurugram border.
In Rajasthan, The Leela Palace Udaipur is preparing 40 home-style lunch packets and is delivering them to local policemen who are on duty.
