4 must-visit beaches in South Goa

A place of scenic beauty marked by serenity and tranquillity - it’s a great way to describe most of the beaches in South Goa. Along with the beaches, the district also has some of the best hotels in South Goa. Of course, this article will focus on the beaches by listing down some of the must-visit beaches in the district.

Here are four beaches that you should visit at least once when you’re in the area:

-    Palolem Beach
-    Mobor Beach
-    Agonda Beach
-    Cavelossim Beach

Palolem Beach

This beach is one of the few beaches in South Goa that haven’t been negatively affected by the inflow of flocks of tourists. The beach has sort of a warm embrace, and a characteristic rocky outfit surrounded by palm trees at one end commonly called as the Green Island. This beach is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Goa. You will majorly find local fishermen and tourists spending time at the shacks. At the North End of the beach, an island called The Monkey Island is situated. A low tide path leads to this island.

Mobor Beach

Exceptions are everywhere, and in South Goa, Mobor Beach is one of the rare exceptions of being a party beach. Mobor Beach is considered to be an extension of Cavelossim beach that adjoins it, located at the southern side by the confluence of river Sal with the Arabian Sea. Mobor Beach is a top spot for tourists visiting Goa as it offers a variety of water sports like parasailing, windsurfing, and jet skiing. Biking is a popular on-beach activity.

Agonda Beach

Agonda Beach has a beautiful landscape that comes with a peaceful and calm ambience. If you’re looking to spend some time away from all the hustle and bustle and loud music, Agonda beach is the right spot to visit. It is one of the cleanest beaches in Goa, and its stretches of clear, golden sand are proof of it. At Agonda beach, tourists can have delicious food, relax under sun beds and just enjoy the serenity. Spending some quality time with nature at Agonda Beach will offer some excellent rejuvenation. The beach comes with just the right combination of sands, forests, and hills.

Cavelossim Beach

This beach is located in Cavelossim, a small Oceanside town of South Goa. The town has a few shacks along the coast, a quiet little church and colourful market stalls lined up along the main road. Its shoreline is surely one of the most serene shorelines of India. The Leela Goa, clearly one of the best beach resorts in Goa, is located on this beach. This beach is a perfect blend of sparkling white sand and black lava rocks. You can go hiking on the beach, something which you can’t do at many of the other beaches in Goa.  The beach is located at a distance of 12 km from Benaulim.

Not all beach resorts in Goa are located near beautiful beaches such as the ones mentioned in the list above. A stay at The Leela Goa is ideal for relaxing at a beach resort and visiting the beaches on the list.
