15 Oct 2016

GOA – Oct 14, 2016 – Taking international recognition to the next level, The Leela Goa, nestled between the Arabian Sea and River Sal, has been chosen to host the prestigious BRICS-BIMSTEC joint summit on October 15 – 16, 2016, that will witness the convergence of 11 distinguished world leaders, including the summit host, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

The 75-acre exclusive resort, will be hosting the joint summit at the Riverside lawns which overlook the tranquil River Sal and the lofty Betul mountains, and organizing a one-of-a-kind beachside state banquet hosted by the Indian Prime Minister. The resort is also poised to receive the heads-of-state of all seven BIMSTEC countries as in-house guests during the two-day summit in Goa.

After hectic parleys at the joint summit, the world leaders, including His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, His Excellency Xi Jin Ping, President of China, His Excellency Michel Temer, President of Brazil and His Excellency Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa, will converge for the state banquet in a luxury tent on the vast expanse of the stunning Leela beach. “We have taken great care to ensure that every detail of the dignitaries visit and stay with us are attended to in a manner that reflects the best of traditional Indian hospitality. Our team of highly talented chefs have been researching and curating the “perfect” seven course meal for several months for this important closing state banquet. Our effort is to showcase India’s rich culinary heritage to our international guests while having all ten national delegations appreciate our regional presentations without compromising on their individual taste preferences – a tall task for our team,” said Shridhar Nair, general manager, The Leela Goa.

For the state banquet, The Leela Goa’s team of talented chefs have thoroughly researched ten national cuisines before compiling a special pan-Indian menu that delicately marries varied tastes with the Indian selection. For example the Shahi Lobster being served for dinner is inspired by the famous dish - Lobster Thermidor - and has a delicate blend of flavours derived from Indian herbs and spices.
