Akshardham Temple Gujarat

One of the most developed cities in India, Ahmedabad is known for its clean roads, excellent infrastructure, convention centres, and business parks. It is home to some of the biggest businesses in the country. Chances are that you too are in the city on a business trip or a conference. 1. Patan
Patan is a historical place near Ahmedabad which has a number of Jain temples, Islamic Mosques, Dargahs and Rojas that let you witness the religious harmony existing on this land. This place has several forts and large gates surrounding it that will take you back in time to the golden days.

2. Gandhinagar
Situated on the banks of Sabarmati River, Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat. The city is culturally diverse and deep-rooted in history. You can witness the contemporary lifestyle of Gujarat with numerous shopping malls, exhibition centres, schools, playgrounds and modern architectural housing along with places of historical interest. The many major universities in this town make it an educational hub as well.

3. Sabarmati Ashram
The Ashram, located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, on the banks of the River Sabarmati, is the place where Mahatma Gandhi used to reside. This is the place from where Dandi March was started on 12th March 1930, and hence it has been declared a national monument.  The Ashram is a treasure trove of memorabilia from the life of Gandhiji.  The Ashram is home to two photo galleries and a museum. There are life-sized oil paintings, letters that Gandhiji wrote and manuscripts of his articles in the Ashram. Besides, the exhibits in the museum also include coins, postal stamps and other things that Gandhiji used in his day to day life. Make sure to get your dose of history at the Sabarmati Ashram when you are in Gujarat.

4. Kutch
Kutch is home to the artistic local and tribal groups of Gujarat. The vast stretches of snow-white salt make it one of the most tranquil and picturesque places to visit near Ahmedabad. The Gulf of Kutch offers a barren yet scenic view of the harsh deserts which are appealing to all kinds of travellers. You can attend the very famous Rann Utsav if you are visiting in the first half of the year, a shop for the finest handicrafts, stroll around the museums and witness the rich heritage this place has to offer.

5. Vadodara
Situated on the shores of the Vishwamitri River, Vadodara blankets some of the most architecturally appealing structures that depict the designs of the ancient past. Formerly known as Baroda, the city has numerous mystical temples, royal palaces, historical monuments, markets and serene gardens. The city is also known for its industries, and exhibition centres. From artists and nature lovers to history buffs and explorers, Vadodara has something for everyone. Shop for authentic local products and artefacts or taste some of the authentic street food in the bylanes of this city.

6. Gir National Park
If you are a wildlife lover, Gir National Park should top your list of places to visit near Ahmedabad. The park has rich and exotic flora and fauna. It gives you a chance to see the Asiatic Lions up close. You can also witness various other birds, reptiles, insects, mammals and flora in their natural habitat. Gir National Park was initiated by the Nawab of Junagadh in an attempt to preserve the endangered species of the animal kingdom and is one of the largest Lion reserves in Asia.

7. Daman
Located in close proximity to Ahmedabad, this union territory of India is a must-visit. With an extensive shoreline, Daman is well known for its beaches. A coastal town, the Portuguese influence is visible in every street, nook and corner. There are churches will tall spires, old buildings, forts and monuments that depict the history of the region. With pristine beaches, lush greenery, and vibrant lifestyle, Daman is definitely a crowd-pleaser.

8. Silvassa
The deep-rooted history and lush greenery of the Western Ghats make the capital of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli an ideal place to visit near Ahmedabad. This place has a number of luxurious resorts, exciting water parks and other natural wonders. You can check out the various beaches, or drive through the winding roads with lush greenery on either side or shop for local products to take back home as souvenirs.
