Goa is filled with beautiful places, and not all of those places involve the sun, the sand and the sea. Also, there are more than just quaint shacks, happening pubs and awe-inspiring 5 star resorts in Goa. We tell you about five unexplored places you can go shutter-happy at.
Divar Island is a picturesque isle off the coast of Goa. It is accessible only by ferry. You can take your vehicle on the boat, rent a bicycle or go around the island on foot. The island abounds with lush green fields and narrow roads. You must include it on your itinerary to experience the calm and solitude. The Saptakoteshwara temple and the Ganesh temple on the island are worth visiting. Don’t forget to visit The Church of Our Lady of Compassion which has imposing architecture and beautiful interiors. You can take in some fantastic panoramic views of the Mandovi River and Old Goa from the hillock. The colourful houses that dot the island date back to the Portuguese era and would be a worthy addition to your mobile album.
Fontainhas lies in the capital city of Goa- Panjim. If you want some Instagram-worthy photographs or are scouting a location for a shoot, this is the place! The colourful houses at Fontainhas along with the narrow winding lanes make for an excellent background for a photoshoot or a casual photo session. You can rent a two-wheeler, ask your hotel or beach resort in Goa to arrange for transportation or simply explore the beautiful cobbled lanes on foot.
Church of our Lady Mont
This Church was built in 1519 by Afonso de Albuquerque. It was destroyed in an earthquake and was subsequently rebuilt. A deserted winding road flanked by pine trees takes you up to the Church which is on a hilltop. You can hardly find any tourists here. The view from the top is awe-inspiring. You get a bird's eye view of Old Goa with the Mandovi River flowing below. It is the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset with your loved ones or your friends; not to mention the excellent Instagram-worthy photos that you can take!
This quaint little village falls on the way from Panjim to Baga. The only thing that stands out in this sleepy little hamlet is the fort and the Church. The sunsets you can watch from the fort are sure to be etched into your memory forever.
Cidade Vainguinim beach
The Vainguinim is not your average beach. The maps might guide you to a Goa beach resort when you search for this beach. However, there’s a narrow little road which leads you to this secluded and quaint beach. Colourful, with European vibes, this place is frequented by foreigners. You can also find locals here. This is the place to head to if you are looking to spend an undisturbed morning or a relaxed evening or, laying back, looking at the sea.
The Leela Cavelossim is counted amongst the best 5 star hotels in Goa. Located on the Cavelossim beach amidst white sandy beaches, it offers you panoramic vistas of the Sal River as well as the Arabian Sea. Apart from providing you with the best of contemporary luxuries in the lap of nature, this beach resort in Goa is also the perfect shooting destination for Instagram-ready photos and videos.
