MUMBAI – 13 March 2013 – The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts today announced the appointment of Rajesh Jhingon as Executive Vice President, Operations for the group. In this role, Jhingon will oversee and drive operations and initiatives for The Leela group’s award-winning portfolio of eight hotels as well as four new hotels in the pipeline. In a career spanning over 20 years, he has added many feathers to his cap, the latest being his stint as General Manager, Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas.

Jhingon began his career as part of the opening team of The Oberoi and went on to assume the operational command of The Oberoi in Mumbai and thereafter in New Delhi before taking on the mantle of the opening GM of Amarvilas Agra. He then moved for a two-year stint as opening GM in the Maldives with Taj Exotica following which he completed a successful tenure with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as GM of their properties in Singapore and Las Vegas, both of which are located in highly competitive cities and acknowledged as amongst the top hotels in their markets. A career at the helm of various luxury hotels in highly competitive international markets - India, Maldives, Singapore and United States - has given him considerable exposure across broad platforms, including, strategic operational planning, innovative business practices, and establishing world-class standards of excellence. As a result, several properties under his leadership have attained award-winning status in a short span of time.

Jhingon holds a Masters degree in Hospitality Management from Cornell ESSEC Paris, France, and graduated from the Oberoi School of Hotel Management, New Delhi, India.
